When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep—not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Sometimes, You Need the Help of an Army
I found out about George and his army through a techncial blog, of all places. CodeStore.net is a site I visit regularly to get tips and snippets of code to improve the quality of what I do during the weekdays.
The owner of CodeStore, Jake Howlett, lives and works in England. His friends, Shaun and Natasha, are George’s parents. I know Jake only from reading his blog, yet he is, quite clearly to me, a self-sacrificing man. He gives of himself both professionally (where I benefit the most) and personally.
[CodeStore.net] has always been — and always will be — run for free. There have never been adverts and I’ve always resisted the temptation to ask for a subscription fee. Apart from asking for technical help every now and then I never really ask for much.
All I do ask from time to time is for a donation to whatever charitable event I’m about to take part in. In the past I’ve always been grateful for the amazing response to this.
My chosen charity this year is close to home, where, as they say, charity starts.
Jake, Shaun and others take part in various fund raising events to help defer the costs of George’s care. On Sunday, September 16—this one coming—they will be “running the 13 miles of the Robin Hood Half Marathon.” I have chipped in £20 (about $26 US) to help out. If you are able and feel inclined, George could use your help, too.
